Dr. Kerry English OPC Artist Award

Established in 2020 in honor of OPC board member and theater enthusiast Dr. Kerry English (who passed away that year), this award is sponsored by English’s widow, Olga Garay-English.

The goal of the award is to actively support playwrights who are committed to giving voice to diverse and under-served communities, bringing awareness and activism to the burning social, cultural, and political issues of the day, and promoting humanitarian values.

$10,000/year will go to a playwright whose play is selected to be part of OPC’s annual play development program, allowing them to enhance their workshop experience and sustain their career after Ojai; $5000/year will support the workshop process for the play.
