The 28th Annual Ojai Playwrights Conference & New Works Festival will take place July 20-August 3, 2025.

Intern Applications are now closed - check back here for next year’s Intern Application.

Ojai Playwrights Conference (OPC) offers internships to undergraduate students and recent graduates with an interest in the new play development process and theatre-making. If this sounds like you, please join us for two weeks in Ojai, California to work alongside established and mid-career playwrights who are developing compelling new plays for the American theater.

This internship is suited for those invested in producing and creative development and gaining arts administration experience. Each intern will be paired with a team which includes a playwright, a dramaturg, and a director. In addition, they will work closely with the Intern Manager, Company manager, and OPC staff to help build community and a successful two week conference.

During week one of the conference, interns will have the opportunity to see readings of the full festival line-up of plays as well as develop their own creative process through writing exercises and discussions with festival playwrights, directors and dramaturgs. During the second week, interns will work more closely with the creative team of a single show, shadowing and providing support during workshop rehearsals culminating in public performances.

Check out this Information Sheet for more details from our 2025 internships. The Intern Application is now closed.
